The Lazy Graze, the charcuterie catering business Barbara Bliley started in early 2025, is opening its first storefront in October 2026 at 1334 Sycamore Square Drive in Midlothian. The 1,400-square-foot space is both a catering kitchen and a small event venue, giving a business that grew out of a home kitchen room to take on larger catering jobs and host gatherings of its own.

Until now, Bliley has traveled around the region to her customers, building custom cheese and charcuterie boards for weddings, bridal showers, birthday parties and gatherings in people's homes. The new space lets customers come to her.

From home kitchen to storefront

Bliley launched The Lazy Graze in early 2025 after years of communications and branding work in Richmond, including founding her own firm, Olio Branding, and working at Medrio. Her offerings run from small boards of cured meats, cheeses, jams, hummus and other spreads up to grazing tables, where the food is laid out across an entire tabletop to feed a crowd the size of a wedding reception.

Her Build-A-Board workshops teach groups of up to 24 people how to source good charcuterie ingredients, cut and style cheeses and meats, and pair flavors, and each participant builds a board to take home. Until now those workshops happened in customers' homes and workplaces. Bliley began looking for a space of her own in recent months so she could host them herself and take the business into its next phase.

A micro-event studio

Bliley describes the new location as a "micro-event studio," a place to hold the kind of party people might host at home, such as a bridal shower, when their own house doesn't feel suited to it. She describes the room as cozy, with soft lighting and a mix of seating options. In her view, few event spaces in the area let customers make the room their own while offering flexible cheese and charcuterie service already built in, and that is the gap she hopes to fill.

The storefront was previously home to Paint 'N Play RVA, a painting studio that closed its physical location a few years ago and still hosts mobile painting parties around the area.

A new gathering place for the business community

For the business community, the space adds a small, fully catered venue for business and networking events, and the company already markets its workshops for corporate team-building and client appreciation events. Bliley plans to hold both public and private events there and hopes to add speaker series and other recurring programs. The first is a Boss Girl Dinner series, a grazing-style dinner where women entrepreneurs from different industries can talk through their challenges and goals.

The bigger kitchen also lets The Lazy Graze grow its corporate catering, serving larger companies than her home kitchen could accommodate.

Bliley runs the business herself today and says she will likely hire an events manager once the space opens, so she can balance events at Sycamore Square with off-site catering.
