For years the answer to "where in Chesterfield can we hold a conference for a thousand people?" was that you could not. You went to Richmond, or to Short Pump, or you split the group across two hotels.

That answer changes in 2028.

At a glance

  • What: Hilton Richmond The Mondelle, a full-service hotel and conference center

  • Who: Shamin Hotels, the Richmond-based owner-operator led by CEO Neil Amin

  • Where: 7240 Midlothian Turnpike, on nearly three acres inside Springline at District 60

  • Size: 270 guest rooms across 11 floors — the tallest hotel in Chesterfield County

  • Investment: $160 million

  • Meeting space: more than 30,000 square feet, anchored by a 12,600-square-foot grand ballroom

  • Broke ground: December 10, 2025 · Topped out: August 2026 · Opens: 2028

  • Architect: Cooper Carry · General contractor: Clancy & Theys

The number that matters to the MBA

Thirty thousand square feet of meeting space, and a ballroom of 12,600 square feet that Hilton describes as one of Central Virginia's largest — with capacity for roughly 1,400 conference attendees.

That is a different category of venue than anything the county has had. The MBA's own luncheons have run at Salisbury Country Club and, before that, Stonehenge; those rooms serve the Alliance well and will continue to. A 1,400-person ballroom serves a different purpose: it is the thing that lets a state association, a regional trade group or a corporate meeting choose Chesterfield at all, and every one of those bookings arrives with people who eat, shop and sleep in the corridor for two or three days.

Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Dr. Mark Miller put the gap plainly at the groundbreaking: "For years, we have recognized a gap in the county's ability to attract major meetings, conventions, and large-scale events."

What is being built

The hotel occupies Parcel 2 at Springline, on land bought from the Chesterfield EDA for $1.8 million. Beyond the rooms and the ballroom, the program includes:

  • A signature ground-floor Italian restaurant with outdoor dining opening onto the planned Celebration Park, Springline's central green, which has not yet been built

  • A second-floor indoor-outdoor executive meeting center with a beer garden

  • A rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar with an infinity pool looking toward downtown Richmond

  • A fitness center, and three restaurants in total — none of them named publicly yet

Construction reached its highest point in August 2026, 91,000 work hours in, when the final beam went up. Neil Amin's line at the topping-out is the one worth keeping: "Our vision is to build the best Hilton hotel in the country and do it here in Chesterfield."

Hilton's global brand leader for the flag, Leonard Gooz, framed it as "a new era of hospitality in Chesterfield County."

Why it is at Springline

The Mondelle is not a standalone hotel on a pad site. It is the anchor of the second half of Springline at District 60, the county-initiated redevelopment of the old Spring Rock Green shopping center at Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway. The first half is already open — a fully leased 150,000-square-foot office building with Timmons Group's headquarters in it, 298 apartments at The James, and a parking garage — which is precisely what makes a full-service hotel viable there. Conference guests need somewhere to walk to.
