What ZOMod proposed
ZOMod is a completely new ordinance. It proposed to change all of the county's zoning districts and the zoning process itself. The MBA's warning to members was specific: the new zoning districts are not an equal exchange with current zoning districts, which may result in a loss of higher intensity commercial and industrial uses on currently zoned properties.
How the review was to run
The Planning Commission was expected to discuss different chapters of ZOMod during its regularly scheduled monthly meetings. These were open work sessions the public could attend in person, watch virtually, or stream later. The Alliance cautioned that each session could push later discussions further back. The stated goal was to be done in 10 months. The Planning Department maintained a project website and said it would consistently add new information for the public.
The MBA's position
The Alliance committed to providing members with periodic updates on relevant ZOMod information, and encouraged members to get involved, share their feedback, tell their neighbors, and contact the MBA directly with questions.
