What was covered
The session ran from what everyone was talking about — Dogecoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin and NFTs — to what the MBA argued businesses should be talking about: blockchain, smart contracts, DeFi, DAOs, metaverses, APY farming, and what mining actually entails.
The framing throughout was practical. As the MBA put it in its reminder to members, the talk would “attempt to articulate how this all ties into why businesses should be paying attention” — because this is a business group, not a technology one.
Afterward
The MBA’s recap the following morning reported that the talk “scratched the surface on the topic while leaving the crowd wanting more,” with particular interest in how businesses will operate 20 years from now. The association floated a possible follow-up presentation.
The September breakfast followed the cancellation of the August 5, 2021 business luncheon at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club, which had been scheduled to feature a Dominion Energy speaker on small-scale solar. Refunds were issued to everyone who had paid.
